From Pinball machines to roast beef: How REFCO celebrated the start of the year

There are moments that remain unforgettable – like the instant when the entire REFCO team comes together to properly welcome the new year.

At REFCO, the Christmas party is not celebrated in hectic December, but in a relaxed manner in January with a kick-off event that offers the perfect start to the year.

Our internal organizing team once again outdid themselves this year. Nearly 100 employees, accompanied by their partners, celebrated at the extraordinary Startklar venue near Lucerne. The spacious industrial-design venue, featuring an old-school carousel, a ping-pong table, a dartboard, and a pinball machine, created the ideal atmosphere for an unforgettable event. It was especially nice that our area sales managers from all regions were also part of the celebration.

Our CEO, Benno Brinlinger, gave a short but heartfelt speech, thanking everyone for their efforts in the past year. The catering was excellent as well: the juicy roast beef, accompanied by delicious potato gratin and fresh vegetables, was served by the friendly Startklar team in the impressive dining hall.

Between courses, various games provided entertainment. A round of pool or darts brought plenty of laughter and a pleasant competitive atmosphere. A nostalgic pinball game tested reflexes. 

For those who preferred a quieter moment, a conversation partner was ready to chat in one of the cars of the gently rotating carousel.

And the sweet tooth was also satisfied: delicate tiramisu, crème brûlée, and airy quark mousse tempted guests to snack on in pretty glasses.

The evening flew by, and it felt wonderful to head home after so many conversations, laughter, and reunions. We are a real team – the REFCO family. Now we are full of energy to rock the new year together, grow, and tackle all challenges.
